At last we can see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Soon gone will be the days of lockdown wardrobe, and we will be donning on our summer clothes, ready to go out and hug our loved ones.
We all have been hit one way or another by this halt in the economy and perhaps you are thinking, so what now Isabel? You had us beating stress with a well organised wardrobe and helped us to hang and to fold to make our wardrobes work. So, what do we do now? Any ideas as to what to wear now?
As you know my philosophy is buy less wear more. So, it is time to shop your wardrobe. If you followed my blogs you are super well organised, you may even be sharing my rotation systems to put away the clothes that are not in season. You probably have taken out your summer clothes already, so what do you do next? Well, here are a few tips.
Let’s start with your work clothes. If you wear suits and have summer ones fantastic, if not, don’t worry winter ones can equally be re-fashioned and transformed. The Spring/Summer 2020 collections are full of blues, pastels and purple which are wonderful colours for tops and blouses to coordinate with your suits, as you can create outfits as dramatic or demure as you need to match your personality and the office dress code.
Ruffles, asymmetric tops, pleats and polka dots offer that extra special and elegant touch, so if you have any in your wardrobe, now is the time to bring them out into the sun. Don’t forget to add accessories, big chain necklaces are in, but be careful not to go too 80s. You can simply add a pair of small stud earrings to tone them down. If you prefer smaller jewellery, small necklaces layered are still in and add the perfect finishing touch. Talking about shoes Mary Janes, and baguette bags, are here to stay and are both perfect to complement any office outfit. If you need to add a new suit go for one with Bermuda shorts, they are everywhere and the perfect alternative to a dress or skirt and jacket combo.
Now that we have the work outfits sorted out, let’s have a look at leisure wear. The same colours apply and you can add to the list neon colours if that is what you like. Accessories are headed this year by technicolour sunglasses, XXL handbags, turbans and straw everything.
White, floral, leopard and tie die dresses and broderie anglaise are a must. Denim and Bermuda shorts are everywhere and so are polo shirts. I have to say that I am very impressed the number of brands that are offering garments in more breathable materials not just linen and cotton but also tencel right now.
Who hasn’t got any of these in their wardrobe? Go on and dig deep into those wardrobes and create, create and create new combinations! Don’t forget to send me your questions and pictures. I am looking forward to seeing what you have created.
I hope you have enjoyed this blog. Please feel free to share this blog with your friends and family.
