Christmas parties are on the horizon, it is time to shine like a star!

christmas parties

The office party, the family party, Christmas and New Year’s parties… they are all coming up fast and this year we all want to shine like a star!

Have you been sifting through your wardrobe and realised you have nothing to wear for the upcoming parties?

Have you taken a look at what the shops have to offer and are having trouble deciding amongst the thousands of garments out there?

Fear not, I have done all the leg work for you, so you can relax and choose with confidence.

The situation I hear from my personal stylist clients more often than not is … I had a party coming up and I had no idea what to wear. There was nothing in my closet. I combed through the shops and couldn’t find anything that really made me feel good. I was fed up, so I bought something just to get out of there fast. As a result, I didn’t feel comfortable or confident and didn’t enjoy the party. As a personal stylist and personal shopper, I want to ensure all that changes this year!

Right now, all the shops have wonderful garments that will help you shine like a star, feeling not just comfortable and confident, but undeniably amazing. Whether you need a whole new outfit or are on a budget, here are my personal stylist fashion tips to help you out …

Colour

Whether you want to stick to the traditional black, or you would prefer to be a bit braver and choose other colours, you are in luck. This year, we can all shine in whichever colour we like. Choose from lavish emerald green, superb blue, rich burgundy, elegant grey, luxurious silver, copper, gold, or even exquisite light pink. They are all out there waiting for you.

New Outfit

If  you would prefer a whole new outfit, there are stunning ones out there at a very good price point. Whether you are petite or tall, covering your tummy may be your main focus. If this is the case, you may want to choose one of the many tops with a tie front  and wear them over a pair of flat fronted black trousers. A nice sparkly pair of earring to draw attention to your upper body, a clutch and high heels and you are good to go.

You could also choose a faux wrap dress or top that drapes over your tummy, but still adds some shape to define your waist without clinging onto it (for all of the above you may want to check the ones at Wallis and Next).

If covering your arms is imperative, this year there are many tops and dresses that do this, as well as many jackets, M&S and Wallis have amazing ones. These play  a double duty as they  could help you not only with covering your arms but also drape nicely over your tummy.

Some of the skirts this year are midi and of course there are long dress options. If you prefer   to cover your legs cast your eyes over the ones at Coast and Dorothy Perkins. They are gorgeous!

Now, let’s talk about shoes, here is the conundrum… do you go for  sky high heels, or low heels or even flats? it is all down to personal choice, but if you are after more comfortable low or block heels, take a look at L.K. Bennett, SJP block heels or Ted Baker. They sparkle with comfort. If on the other hand you are petite like me and prefer a bit of height, I am totally in love with the ones at Moda in Pelle, and Kurt Geigher.

Refresh on a Budget

If you are on a budget and would simply like to wear again your trusted little black dress, or  jumpsuit, you have wonderful new accessories out there that could help you update and refresh your look without breaking the bank.

If you are an hourglass shape,  you may want to choose one of the fantastic belts like the ones at Dorothy Perkins, Mango, H&M and Accessorize. On the other hand,  if you are pear or apple shape and would like to take the attention away from your waist and instead emphasise your décolleté, you could treat yourself to a new pair of earrings and/or necklace. There are amazing ones at Mood, J by Jasper Conran, and Lovisa.

If all you need is  arm coverage, as mentioned above,  Zara, Wallis and M&S have beautiful  sequin jackets that would go with any of your existing garments.
